Bassoonit - Make Great Bassoon Reeds was published by Letitia Yount Bryant in 1987 as a teaching aid on how to make bassoon reeds. In 1990 she conceived the idea of a homemade reed wrapping machine consisting of a used motor, a twenty pound bench vice and a footswitch held on a board with electrical tape for her personal use. Letitia is the Principal Bassoonist with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra which she has been a member of since 1980.

The reed wrapper as we know it today was designed by Dave Musholt. Dave started his carreer as percussionist but graduated into the management of engineering disciplines of quality, manufacturing, reliability, test and component engineering in San Jose, CA's Silicon Valley. His expertise brings 22 years of electromechanical engineering experience into the development of the reed wrapper.
The reed wrapper consists of 15 years of practical application from Letitia and 22 years of engineering expertise from Dave. Odds are the reed wrapper will still be working even after you have retired or simply gone bassoon up - grin!
